Q.6 My System IDs is: Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition, Version 2002, is this enough? Please send me my password.
Ans. This is not your system ID. These are details of your operating system.
- Please install the program (PL5.0, Pl6.0, PL6.1, PL7)
- When you run the program you will get three options. Click on the option that says you have purchased it and need to enter your password. This will bring up the password window.
- This window has a five digit system ID (for PL5) and a 7 digit system ID (for PL6), which you need to send to us so that we can provide the password.
Q.10 Is there a bug fix for the Gochara and Varshaphala Dasha Reports in Parashara's Light 6.0 ?
Ans. Please visit www.parashara.com/downloads.html and download the latest build of Parashara's Light 6.0. Please keep your customer ID ready to log on to the website. Once the download is complete, you need to do the following.
Please launch Windows Explorer and go to the 'Extras1 folder', which you will find in the Pl6 directory. Double click on it to open it. There will be many files in this folder, please look and find the files named: Pic701.txt Pic422.txt Pic423.txt These last two files will be near the end of the list of files so look for them there. Note: you want to make sure that your are finding the files with the prefix named "Pic", not "Pib' After you locate these files, you need to delete them. To do this once you find them, right click on them and select the option to delete. Continue to do this until all three of the above files have been removed from the Extras 1 folder.
After you have finished these steps with the Extras 1 Folder, Go back up a level into the PL6 folder and look to see if you can find a folder called Extras 2 If so repeat the above steps here also. After you've completed these steps, your Gochara and Varshaphala Dasha Interpretations should be working.
Q.41 Under Mangala Dosha Cancellations there is one sutra that says that the Mangala Dosa is cancelled if, when Mangala is in the 1st, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12 in one chart, Shani is in one of these houses in the other chart. The software applied this rule in a case where Mangala is in the 8th house in one chart and Shani is in the second house of the other. Why is that? Is it an error or because Saturn is 7th from the 8th?
Ans. Some schools of thought consider Mars in Second House of the Birth Chart as an additional condition for Mangala Dosha, and the presence of Saturn in Second house of the Birth Chart as an additional cancellation condition.
Q.1 Is Shri Muhurta. compatible with XP and VISTA?
Ans. Shri Muhurta 1.3 is not compatible with Windows Vista or later. We are currently working on a new version that will be compatible with Vista. SM 1.3 is compatible with XP, however there are sometimes problems with launching SM after the password is entered. If Shri Muhurta crashes unexpectedly at the very beginning, it may be necessary to save a small file called "mscal.ocx" into your Muhurta folder. Please look out for all instances of a file called mscal.ocx on your system. You will in all probability find multiple instances of the same.
To find the location of the files, go to the Start button located at the lower left side of your computer screen. Look for the 'Search' icon in the list [for Win XP] and 'Find' icon [for Win 98] and select the 'Files or Folders' option.
Enter the file name: mscal.ocx in the name field and select all the directories where you want to run your search in the 'Look In' drop down menu. For instance it may be defaulted to the setting 'Local Hard drives', which is ideal. Please be sure that the box titled 'Include subfolders is selected'.
After you have completed entering the qualifications for your search, click the 'Search' [for Win XP] or 'Find now' [for Win 98] button. Your computer will now run a search.
Once the search process is over, on the right side of the screen, you will find a list of multiple files bearing the same name 'mscal.ocx' but with different dates for modification. Please select the file that has the latest modified date. Right click on it and select 'Copy'.
Launch Windows Explorer.
This is the application that you can use to explore files on your computer.
Right-click on the Start button, and select "explore".
You can also click on the Windows icon key and the 'E' alphabet key simultaneously on your keyboard for this to open up.
Click on C: or D: depending on the location where your Shri Muhurta program is installed. In all probability, you will find it in C: Now look for the 'Muhurta' folder and right click on it. Select the Paste option.
You may be asked if you wish to overwrite an existing file by the same name. Please confirm.
You can now run Shri Muhurta.
Q.2 Shri Muhurta does not accept the date.
Ans. Please ensure that you are entering the date in the correct format.
Example: Aug 31, 2004.
Also, if you are using Shri Muhurta outside of the US and Canada with Windows XP or 2000, you might need to set the Regional Settings of Windows to English (United States) in order to operate the program. Do this by clicking the following: Start, Settings, Control Panel, Regional Settings, English (United States) [for Windows 98] and Start, Control Panel, Regional and Language Options, English (United States [for Windows XP].
Q.9 Why are there score inconsistencies in Shri Muhurta. Why do we get different set days
by changing the time span?
Ans. To calculate each and every chart for say 6 months, one would have to calculate 6x30x24x60 charts (every minute something could change). A software following such algorithm would be unacceptably slow, especially when Shri Muhurta was developed it was totally unacceptable. So a great number of optimizations are used, which make fairly educated guesses about how auspicious days are. This is based on sampling. By resampling, a somewhat different set of days is found. This may make the software seem arbitrary to a user, and we understand that very well, but the worst case is that a potentially good day was left out because of the sampling being too small. It does NOT mean the calculations are not accurate.
Q.11 Why are scores are different when evaluating the day, and when looking at the highest score within a day?
Ans. Again, when the days are sampled, not every minute of that day can be scanned. So a sample is used to estimate the day's auspiciousness. Once the day is selected, and every minute is evaluated, only than the days "true" highest score is found.
We hope this helps you appreciate the software a bit more. SM is extremely complex in how it tries to work around the calculative bottlenecks. In our next update, we will tackle this issue more, and also support higher sampling rates as now computers are so much faster. Software development never stops!
Q.13 I am unable to install the German Version of Shri Muhurta. It seems as though this file is missing from the Cd itself as the Cd contents display only the English version of Shri Muhurta.
Ans. It appears that there is a slight glitch in the installer which only affects the German version and installation on the system where the CD rom is not the D drive. In other words, the installer only installs the German version properly when installed from the D drive. Therefore there is no problem with the CD that you have.
To install the software, please do the following:
- If you have multiple CD drives in your computer, use the one that is the D drive
- If the D drive is not a CD Rom but a hard drive then please create a directory "SMCD"on the D drive and copy all contents from the CD into that folder. After doing that you can run the installer by clicking on the Start button (typically in the left lower corner of your screen), selecting the Run command and entering D:/SMCD/setup.exe at the command prompt.
After running the program for the first time, you'll see an Activation Form, which will display a System ID and will ask be asked to enter a name and a password. Please kindly e-mail that system Id to sales@parashara.com.
